Overview of the Project

Our project focuses on promoting youth participation in electoral reforms and advocating for the implementation of a Youth Quota. We work closely with governments, civil society organizations, and young leaders to create platforms for dialogue, foster awareness, and facilitate policy changes that empower youth in the political arena.

Youth Quota:

What is a Youth Quota?

A Youth Quota is a policy mechanism that aims to increase youth representation in decision-making bodies, such as parliaments or local councils. It sets a minimum number or percentage of seats reserved specifically for young candidates, ensuring that their voices are heard and their perspectives are considered in the political process. By implementing a Youth Quota, countries can create a more inclusive and representative democracy.

Why Implement a Youth Quota?

  • Amplifying Youth Voices: A Youth Quota ensures that young people have a dedicated platform to voice their concerns, ideas, and aspirations, leading to more comprehensive policy-making processes.
  • Bridging the Generation Gap: By including young representatives in decision-making bodies, a Youth Quota facilitates intergenerational dialogue and bridges the gap between older and younger generations.
  • Building a Sustainable Future: Young people are the torchbearers of the future. Their inclusion in political processes through a Youth Quota helps address pressing issues, such as climate change, social justice, and economic sustainability.

Electoral Reforms:

The Need for Electoral Reforms

Electoral systems play a crucial role in shaping the democratic process. However, they often face challenges that hinder youth participation. Our project focuses on advocating for electoral reforms to address these challenges and create a more inclusive environment for young people to engage in politics.

Areas for Reform

  • Lowering the Voting Age: Advocating for a reduction in the voting age to enable more young people to participate in elections and decision-making processes.
  • Enhancing Civic Education: Promoting comprehensive civic education programs that equip young people with the knowledge and skills needed to engage meaningfully in political processes.
  • Strengthening Youth Candidate Support: Facilitating access to resources, mentorship, and training opportunities for young candidates running for public office.
  • Removing Barriers to Political Participation: Addressing systemic barriers, such as high candidacy fees, restrictive eligibility requirements, and lack of financial support for youth-led initiatives.

Our Initiatives:

Round Table Discussions

Engage in dynamic conversations with policymakers, experts, and young leaders through our round table discussions. These sessions provide a platform for meaningful exchanges on topics such as youth representation, electoral reforms, and the role of young people in shaping political systems.
